Red face Re: On the field behavior

OOPs, sorry. Guess my mouth was in motion before brain put in gear.
Gurode was the poor unfortunate Dallas center that Haynesworth stomped on. I found it on NFL GridIron Gab Article was can NFL really crack down on Player's misconduct? If criminal and civil charges had been brought up, how would this play into Goodell's new policy? Or would it? Should it?
Sometimes a player will be accused of a cheap shot when mostly he is just carried away by his emotions in the game. Haynesworth's behavior seemed pretty vicious and deliberate to me. This seems more criminal to me than disturbing the peace or some of the other events players get involved in.

i agree totally

and i think youre saying if a player is arrested for throwing a drink in someones face and is suspended for a game ..... shouldnt an in-game face stomping be worth 2 games or so .......... i would also agree with that for sure

i believe every incident is it's own, like they say - case by case basis - but they need to watch onfield fights as closely and as severely as they do the off-field stuff

remember the Haynesworth incident happened before Goodell took over .... i think it may be different now

I think there is leeway in that the fact that it was "in the heat of a violent game"...which a lot of this usually is...a bit hard to pumping these guys up to kill each other on the field and then have them come to a total stop at the sound of a whistle...outside the white lines you have a case...inside it's a grey area at best...

i do agree with you to a point ........ but isnt that also what they expect in the NBA ?

your teammate gets decked and even if you take one step off the bench in the heat of the moment then you go back to your bench, youre still suspended

Worked wonders in that Suns series huh?...Common sense should be the order of the day...

That aside, they should have better rules...heck if you take off your helmet is a penalty...perhaps someone head should be what?...a free shot at a field goal... ...just saying...

Ok, I see your point also. I remember reading about a player that more or less said that(Romanowski -no way is that spelled right- wrote a book )But still, stomping on his face after he was down seems a little diff to me than a tackle on an unsuspecting player (the one on Clifton) Some of them sometimes look like they can go both ways. IF the NFL can fine for celebrations or taking off your helmet on the field, then it seems like they kind of dropped the ball on this one, even if it was before Goodell.

Re: On the field behavior

i really think we need to hold off to give Goodell a chance to get it right

i agree it has been screwed up in the past and seemed to have been odd at how the rules fall

HA HA HA Simon.
You guys never stay on topic.
Besides, all sports have a lot in common, whether you are a fan of that particular sport or not. Talk about one, talk about all.
Life never stays on topic either. It's what makes it so interesting.
