ok i realize this will never actually happen ...... but i would like to see it all the same

how about the NFL disciplines it's teams like College Football does

what do i mean by that you may ask ....... well im prepared to tell you

what would the NCAA do to a team like the Bengals last year ? ....... maybe no Bowl games for a couple years

well the NFL should do that .......... no playoffs for teams that have multiple players arrested ....... think a franchise would make sure their players behave if they knew bad behavior would mean no playoffs for 2 years ?

im seeing your point simon, a sorta "there is no I in team so if you screw up then you dont just get in trouble but your team does"

would probably be a good idea but i see so many problems coming out of it, i mean it would be one of the worst things for a whole team to get thrown out of the playoffs becuase of one guy but at the same time it SHOULD deter players from acting stupid. i think there is a need to crack down on players harder and crack down on the teams if they dont discipline them well...at the same time the team shouldnt have to be blamed if one player decides hes bored one night and goes off drink driving, picks up a hooker and smokes something they shouldnt in a place they shouldnt with someone they shouldnt i mean unless they plan on introducing 'tagging' for players its gonna be hard for teams to keep an eye on their players

well one reason i brought it up is because last season they mentioned that the commish should go after the owners because their players were getting in trouble

Suspeneding their team from the playoffs NO! give them a regular suspention if their team makes the playoff for all their teams playoff game

Fascinating idea, but with the Bowl System being based on invites, I can't see the NFL justifying a system where a 15-1 team is not playing for the championship under any circumstances. Now what would potentially work would be the other big thing the NCAA does to teams - stripping scholarships for repeat violations, meaning that teams can lose draft picks.

My first thought - good idea - then I started muddling through it - not viable. If we are going to punish football teams then why not other corporations too. Think it through - Home Depot forklift driver busted for dui - penalize Home Depot don't allow them to sell paint for 2 days - nope. Fire the employee - nope - he will get the ACLU on their ass.

The fans can have more influence on a team than the league. Don't like the thugs your team has - don't go to the game - don't buy that jersey.

im not asking for this to be law or common practice ......... it was just an idea as i had heard last year the Commish could do something to teams with so many 'bad' players

The teams already get hammered with salary cap issues - look at the Falcons. The loss of draft choices may work.
