Keyshawn Johnson To Join ESPN

Keyshawn Johnson has declined an offer from the Tennessee Titans and has decided to retire.

The wide receiver, who also expected to receive an offer from the Oakland Raiders, is expected to announce his decision at a Wednesday afternoon news conference at his alma mater of USC, his agent, Jerome Stanley, told ESPN.com's John Clayton.

Johnson will pursue a broadcasting career with ESPN.

"Following Keyshawn's retirement announcement we plan an announcement on his joining ESPN," the network said Wednesday.

I like for ESPN...same way I think Michael Irvin is good TV...still, I thought he was more competitive than that...he's only played since 1996

Re: Keyshawn Johnson To Join ESPN

Ah i'm not sold on this. Some team is gonna make Keyshawn an offer and he'll take it. He's just trying to bring press to himself and probably didn't like the offers he was getting.

He was very good during the draft. Like everyone else, I'm surprised by his decision, but I guess he's gotta follow his heart.

Well, if he followed the green, he'd be a Titan or a Raider right now. Anytime they interviewed him about going to either one of those clubs, though, he hardly sounded enamored with the idea. There are some guys who can't get the game out of their blood and there are some guys, like Tiki Barber and Barry Sanders, who tire of it and walk away while they still have some good football in them. I guess chalk Keyshawn up in the second category, cause he definitely could've improved a few receiving corps in 2007.

Re: Keyshawn Johnson To Join ESPN

i think the problem with Keyshawn is that he was thinking that he was a better player than he is at the moment and trying to hold on to his very good past. he kept mentioning that he was in the same draft class as Terry Glenn, Marvin Harrison, T.O. etc...and deserved the same amount of money as them, when in all actuality althought he came from the same time frame as those guys i dont believe he was in the same category as them in terms of playing ability at the moment. i mean for one think it was always said that he would be a second reciever if he went to Tennessee or Oakland, so why would you shell out big bucks for someone who will only get 70+ catches a season and be your second choice reciver?

in my opinion he was hurt about being traded in for a younger model in Carolina and was trying to regain some 'self worth' by looking for a bigger contract somewhere else to try and make everyone see he is just as good as the new generation coming in, im dissapointed cos he was a good reciever and probably had a few more seasons in him, but he cut his nose to spite his face by asking for more money when he should have thought about taking a slight pay cut to carry on playing

Re: Keyshawn Johnson To Join ESPN

I always liked him from his days with the Jets, but he hurt his career going to Tampa IMO. They were not a passing team. He hurt his career stats by going there and probably wasted a few productive years. Maybe he could have gotten the money he thinks he deserved if he stayed in the limelight of NY.

Cool Re: Keyshawn Johnson To Join ESPN

You know, I give Keyshawn credit. I really thought this past year, he wasn't close to being what he once was.

It's always better to get out year too soon, than a year too late, and as Lefty said, he was pretty good during the draft.

Talking Re: Keyshawn Johnson To Join ESPN

He's definitely not as good as the others in his class, but I too, think he had something left. He could have given some team a shot in the arm but guess he has visions of being greater than he is. Now we know where T.O. can go when he retires. It seems they will hire anybody.HMM, wonder if I could get a job there?????????????
