But I still dont understand how they do this? I thought free agency is what did away with the dynasties. How do they create parity in the NFL? |

I like it when the upstarts come out on top too. And dynasties are a lot of fun if your team is the dynasty. But still, parity does kind of smack of socialism, doesnt it? It seems like it still kind of comes down to money. Spread all the good stuff around so all the fat cats make more money and more people are happy. They will tell us the fans are happier too but they dont necessarily care about that unless we are spending our cash where they want it to go. I like to see the upstarts win, but what if they dont? What if the powerhouse keeps winning, year after year after year? The good teams should win because they are good, not because of the owner's money. I am kind of rambling here. Am I making any sense? Does anyone know what I am trying to say? If so, tell me. |

Where did that come from??????? So, then maybe parity is the reason for so much poor football. Maybe its not just because there is not enough talent to go around. Maybe parity creates an artificial playing field. |

| Re: Ask The Experts ... NFL I believe that there is parity in football now. Once the talent is spread so thin, the only thing that will make a team great is coaching. Not just the head coach. They need a whole staff that can motivate the players to over achieve. That is why we still have teams that are more dominant than others. |

| Re: Ask The Experts ... NFL On Access the other night, Baldinger was talking about the Dallas defense last year. Basically, he said the defense was too easy to read, no creating confusion on the blitz. I thought you could pretty much always tell when a team is going to blitz. I have heard similar criticism of the defense last year. Like even the Dallas defense was bored. Does the defense react to the offense, or the offense to the defense? Which comes first here, the chicken or the egg? What do I look for??? Make me a defensive genius. Layman's terms please. |

You want to be deceptive on defense. When they know a team is going to run the ball, they want to make them think they are defensing the pass. That way they can collapse the defense on them. I am not that good of a writer, so I don't know if I can explain this well enough. I think the best example would be to watch the Patriots games against the Colts. Belichek doesn't have his defense line up until just before they are ready to snap the ball. It looks like they are roaming around looking for a spot. At the last moment, they set their defense not giving Manning a chance to read what they are going to do. I don't think I explained it at all, but I typed a lot and didn't want it to be for nothing. |

I read the other day that the Dallas defense said they didnt have many plays and the opposing team could pretty much figure out what they were doing. Only they would fake a run and instead threw a pass. I'd have to say that worked pretty good too. Everytime the opposing quarterback would go deep, I just knew we were going to get burned, and we did. Also, Parcell was too conservative. |
