Some executives were furious with that punishment, though.

Wellington Mara thought the NFL let them off too easy, and I'd tend to agree with that.

I think a better punishment on top of what they gave them would be to take the player away, and still make them honor the contract.

I thought it was a pretty good idea, even though I didnt think anyone but me would ever use it. There are so many times during the season, there is a play, call or rule that doesnt seem too make sense and no one around knows anymore than I do.

Actually, this was a good question. I hate to admit it but I agree with Simon. That fine is nothing to some of those owners. So there has to be more to it than that. Even the loss of the draft picks if the team really knows what it is doing. There has to be more to it than that. Maybe its one of those unwritten law things????????????

On NFL Europa today, on the kickoff after the extra point, return guy caught the ball in the end zone, slipped a little, and then took a knee. There wasnt anyone else close besides his guy. The ball then went on the twenty yard line???? Does this always happen? I never saw it before.
