Re: Ask The Experts ... NFL What do they mean by "the ground can't cause a fumble"? Seems to me it happens all the time. If they mean that it doesn't count as a fumble (which they must) then they should clarify that rule for new viewers like my wife who just can't get that.

This is a confusing rule because in some circumstances the ground can cause a fumble. If a ball carrier is tackled and he loses control of the ball at or after the time he makes contact with the ground, he is regarded as down and the ball is not in play. In other words, his team keeps the ball. But if that carrier falls without an opponent contacting him, then the ball is in play and the other team can recover. In other words the ground did cause the fumble. All your wife needs to remember is that if the carrier is tackled, makes contact with the ground about the same he loses the ball, the ground cant cause a fumble rule goes in effect. Also tell her that its best not to expect the rules of football to make sense.

what they mean by the ground cant cause a fumble doesnt mean that it doesnt count as a fumble on the stats sheet[because it will] it means that if say a RB were to have his elbow hit the ground when hes being tackled it does not count as a fumble that the other team can recover, it means the play is dead and the team[offense] has the ball and keeps driveing.

Re: Ask The Experts ... NFL I am a newbie at this forum looking for any guidance for my question below: ================================================== I own PSL licenses of few NFL teams and am considering partnership for expansion. If I transfer my licenses from individual name to partnership, would I be paying taxes? Where can I get more info? Thanks in advance
