Marcus Headed To CFL

With the only NFL team that ever showed any interest in him cutting him loose, there is talk north of the border that Marcus Vick could give Canadian football a shot.
Per a CFL source, the talk north of the border is that Vick will try to become a slash-type player in Canada, where he could play as a quarterback and a receiver.
Vick showed potential as a quarterback at Virginia Tech, arguably demonstrating a greater ability and willingness to stay in the pocket than his big brother, Mike. With the Fins, Marcus was switched to receiver.

Style wise, he may be better suited for the CFL...he is "Flutie-esque" in some ways...he is short and can run...the CFL might fit his style and talents.

He should have been playing with Ricky Williams. Grr.

But otherwise, he should have a cool career in the CFL.

Re: Marcus Headed To CFL

ive never been a fan of Marcus Vick, i think the best place for him to be would be the CFL or maybe even Arena Football but i just dont think he is ready for the NFL just yet. i would like to say that his brothers reputation has tainted his possiblites of playing in the NFL but ive read up about him and besides the problems he kept having at college, he doesnt seem like that great a player, i think a few season in the CFL and maybe he will be ready for the NFL but i dont think he is right now, i think he was lucky that Miami even took a chance on him

I could def see him in the Arena Football League. But he should have a good career in the CFL.

Maybe he could do both... Aren't the seasons run at different times?...Anyone know if a player has ever played both seasons?

That's another discussion in itself as to whether Michael Vick should be playing QB in the NFL.

I do know this. My brother moved to outside of Macon, GA about a year ago. And when I went last fall, it was opening day for NFL football with the Panthers vs. the Falcons. And I talked to a lot of Falcons fans there. They really don't like Vick. I couldn't believe it. But they are hungry for a Championship and they know that Vick will never bring that to them.

Re: Marcus Headed To CFL

There is some other ex NFL talent who signed in the CFL resently.

Mike McMahon selected in the fifth round by the Lions in 2001, but started only a hand full of games at quarterback for the lions.

Jesse 'The Bachelor' Palmer who was drafted in the 4th round by the Giants but again never really panned out.

Akili Smith who was taken 3rd overall in the 1999 NFL draft.

CFL talent looking to find work in the NFL this year are

Ike Charlton (Detroit Lions) who spend one year in the CFL last season starting at linebacker. Charlton was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2000 NFL draft. Charlton has the talent to play in the NFL but is not build for either corner or linebacker.

Chip Cox (Redskins) - Corner not expected to stick.

Kenton Keith (Indy) - Has the talent to play in the NFL but is not a NFL build runningback. Averaged over 6 yrds a carry is almost all of his CFL seasons.

Chris Wilson (Redskins) - Defensive Lineman not expected to stick.

There will probable be a few others.

It surprises me too. I thought that they figured Vick was the next best thing to sliced bread. Thats the impression I always got.

I thought the same thing. But they really don't. He was held high when he first came in because he was going to win them that championship, but it hasn't happened yet.

This proves to me that there are truly enlightened Falcons fans in the world. The sooner team management wakes up to the fact that Vick, while an exciting player to watch, is not a championship-caliber quarterback, the better off that team will be.

Re: Marcus Headed To CFL

you mention that Vick is an exciting QB to watch, i thought the same becuase he was the first really great scrambelling QB, meaning his mindset was 95% run and 5% run...but the question i ask is, is Vince Young not more exciting? im not talking just from a biased Titans fans point of view but i think that Vince is more exciting that Vick

The talent is overwhelming!...maybe its time to take Smith, Palmer, and McMahon's dootball cards out of the dusty box I chucked them into... The Bachelor did not nothing for Highlighting Palmer's ability to make a sound decision...
