Do you remember Roger Carr?

Does anyone recall Roger Carr, a wide receiver who played for the Colts in the 70s and into the early 80s? He was one of the fastest guys i ever saw play, but he only had a few good years beacuse of injuries. But in 1976, he averaged over 25 yards a catch, on 43 catches! I remember the Patriots could not cover this guy. I loved watching him play.

Absolutely got his 1977 football card with the 1976 stats on the back...the long side burns...the big taxi cab door for ears...and Bert Jones throwing to him...Jones was a great noe in the making...and then he had arm problems...

Bert Jones was a great player when he was healthy. He was alot like Brett Favre, but with an even better arm. I loved those Colt teams, but they could never get over the hump.

Re: Do you remember Roger Carr?

One of the worst feelings I ever had was when the Raiders beat the Colts in that great overtime game, I think in 1977. Does anyone remember that after that game, a small plane crashed into the stands? I think they were empty, luckily, but I swear I remember that happened.

All I remember is "the Ghost going to the Post" in the overtime...Stabler to Casper for the game winner.

Legend - Absolutlely those Colts were a classic team. I loved Bert Jones - he was great but injuries slowed him. Roger Carrr was great and I loved their back Lydell Mitchell. And I do remember something about a plane crashing into the stands.

That Baltimore-Oaland game might have been the greatest game of all time. if not, definitely in the top 5. That Casper catch was unreal. I also remember Mark Van Eeghan just ramming through the Colts line in the O/T to set up the TD.

Sort of like todays Colts as far as getting over the hump goes. And yes, I remember Roger Carr, I also have his football card from 1976.

The plane crash you are referring to happened the year before after the Steelers whipped the Colts 40-14 in the 1976 AFC Divisional Playoff at Memorial Stadium.

Thanks! I knew there was a crash in that stadium, but I was off a year.

Re: Do you remember Roger Carr?

I worked for Roger Carr when he coached high school footbal in Louisiana. He was real humble about the whole thing. Never really talked about it, thumped his chest, etc. Real old school, classy. Still married to his college sweetheart. Loved working with him. Got him to autograph a couple of cards I had from '78 and '79. What I didn't know was that Roger started off on a track scholarship at La. Tech. The man could long jump over 21 feet in high school!!!!!
