Cool Tagliabue to retire...

NEW YORK (AP) -- Paul Tagliabue is leaving the NFL, and he's leaving it both peaceful and prosperous.

The 65-year-old commissioner will step down in July after 16 years, his tenure marked by labor harmony and unprecedented riches through television deals.
Tagliabue has been in charge since 1989, when he succeeded Pete Rozelle, and agreed last March to stay to complete the TV deal and a long-term contract with players.

So anyone want to play the guessing game on the next NFL commish?...I am guessing Condi Rice...

Re: Tagliabue to retire...

I agree with about Paul T. He did a really great job with the NFL....expansion and all. Maybe he is resigning because he sees the heat that Selig is taking from Congress. I wouldn't be surprised if he is sitting in from of a Congress committee soon. Lets see the next commish? Since we are being political I would take a stab by saying....Donald Trump.

Re: Tagliabue to retire...

The NFL is truly the best pro sport in America. The ONLY POSSIBLE knocks anyone can make against it are: 1) too much parity and 2) no team in LA

Tags did a tremendous job

Re: Tagliabue to retire...

In all seriousness, what does everyone think about the possibility that Rich McKay might be the next commissioner. The only thing I know about him as a potential replacement for Tags is that he wants to add two more playoff times. That's all I need to know to hope he doesn't get the job.

Re: Tagliabue to retire...

The next commish for the NFL will be David Letterman for these ten reasons.

10. David is funny

09. Paul Tagliabue watched his late night show all through his tenure as commish.

08. David doesn't understand football and so we will always deem him innocent and forgive him when he screws up the NFL Draft announcements.

07. Letterman is shrewd with money because he has a lot of it.

06. The football players get a "Kick" out of Dave

05. Dave Letterman doesn't "fumble around" with his words.

04. The late night show guys are not considered macho and so Dave Letterman is going to lead the way for the other talk show wimps.

03. Dave Letterman couldn't replace Jay Leno so Tagliabue will do.

02. The Jets and Giants have not improved at all with Letterman at the helm on late night in New York.

01. Dave has been readin' Gotham Dark Knight posts on goteamsgo and is now armed with better jokes and a much greater sense of humor than he had on his own show. He's ready for the BIG TIME because of our very own Gotham!!!!!!!!

Bear with me guys,
I had a little bit of time on my hands

As advised by my lawyer I can neither confirm nor deny that Mr. Letterman has been reading my posts, and I am in no way responsible for the said increase or decrease in Mr. Lettermen's sense of humor as a direct result.

I also cannot confirm nor deny the rumor that Mr. Letterman offend makes random appearances at GoTeamsGo under the screen name DAveL.

Furthermore, any connections between my posts and those of BBB are purely coincidental in nature, and are at no time a direct result of massive drinking or a brain storming session.

Gotham,

I can't do brainstorming. I always get stuck in that kind of venue.

Gotham,

You sound like you are doing just fine without the drink. I don't have much use for it either but I do like to eat.
