2007 NFL All-Cut Team

"Borrowing" Gotham's idea from another thread... the challenge is to put together a quality team using only players that have been cut over the last couple of days. The idea is that each poster picks one player to fill an open position, and we keep going until we have a starting 22 (kickers/punters optional... can't think of any good ones who have been cut recently). I'll start with LB Joey Porter, a cap-cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers yesterday. Who's next?

I think my man Joey Harrington still has an arm left in him...I vote him QB over Brooks and Ramsey.

Why not Luke Pettigout. The LT may have been cut because of his broken leg but prior to that, was a pretty stable bookend for the Giants for years.

La Var Arrington at linebacker, if he hasn't hurt himself in the off-season.

Travis Henry and Drew Bennett, dont really know why you would cut a veteran reciever like bennett and a running back coming off an incredible season like Henry...doesnt make much sense

Cool Re: 2007 NFL All-Cut Team

A lot of these moves are salary-cap and not peformance related.

Yeah, which begs the question..."what the heck?...whytender a contract you do not intend to keep?"

Re: 2007 NFL All-Cut Team

it boils down to the fact, that they are not doing as well as they are expected or that they believe that they can get an equally as productive player for less money.

Still does nothing to answer the question of why tender a contract that has little or no real value over the course of the past few years, and leads to outrageous bonuses...
