Meddling Owners

you hear so much about some NFL owners meddling with their teams

i think to some degree most every owner meddles.......though i dont really consider it meddling

id say if you spend over $700 million you should be able to do anything you want with that team .............i know i would

people say Jerry Jones meddles alot......they said he meddled even when Jimmy Johnson was coach

well....Jerry's Cowboys have won 3 Super Bowls in the past 15 years or so......i think most any city would be glad to have an owner that meddles like that.......im not really sure what all the fuss is about

and like i said...i think most every owner does it.....it just isnt talked about as meddling

dont you think Bellichick would have liked to have had Vinatieri, Branch and Givens this year ?........and Kraft wouldnt put up the money.....isnt that meddling ?.........its not like the Pats didnt have the money, they were about $14 million under the cap

like i said, im not complaining about it.....if i bought a team you can be sure things would be done my way........i just think it happens alot more then people talk about.......its just some teams have good smart meddling owners and some dont

hell, the Texans took Mario Williams instead of Reggie Bush......id say thats a dumb meddling owner....but i dont hear people mention that

Re: Meddling Owners

The Raiders would be an example of a team with an owner that meddles and doesn't have any good come from it. He is making a mess of that team.

Re: Meddling Owners

You took the words right out of my mouth, The Raiders are a great example. And for the cowboys, they did win three superbowls before the salary cap. What have you done for me lately.

Re: Meddling Owners

The Texans owner isn't one that meddles. With that draft, he just wanted some security beforehand with contracts.

I don't think he's ever been a problem for Capers or the new coach there.

Thumbs down Re: Meddling Owners

Maybe if you spend 700 million, you have the right to meddle. But I am going to make the assumption that you also want to win. If my car needs repair, I take it to a mechanic, not my banker. If my heart needs fixing, I go to a dr., not a librarian. And I sure am not going to tell him or her how to do it. So I go to someone who knows what they are doing, ask intelligent questions and after that keep my mouth shut.
As the fan of a team whose owner meddles, yeah, sometimes we win. But sometimes his meddling costs us.

Re: Meddling Owners

Good points Bette but when so much money and risks/rewards in the balance, judgments won't be made with a clear head.
