2007 Hall of Fame inductees

Six former players have been named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. They are: Michael Irvin, Thurman Thomas, Bruce Matthews, Roger Wehrli, Gene Hickerson and Charlie Sanders. So what do you think of the class of 2007? Any unforgivable snubs? Should Tagliabue have gotten in?

Irvin, Thomas, Mathew and Wherli all deserve it...Hickerson I do not know...and Charlie Sanders is a stretch... I don't think he was good enough to be in...There were a lot better Tight Ends when he played...I thought Bob Tucker was better, Dave Parks probably was better, Jackie Smith was better...I just don't see it...

Re: 2007 Hall of Fame inductees

Ray Guy and Doug Williams need to go in to the HOF

Guy is the best punter of all-time......i dont care that he was "just a punter"

Williams is the 1st black QB to win a Super Bowl.....when your the 1st ever at doing something good you should be in for that achivement

Ray Guy definitely...

But no on Willams...this is not Jackie Robinson breaking a barrier...you can't simply make race a criteria for the Hall...Williams was a good QB, who also happened to be black...he down played the whole race thing...he was a real class guy...

BTW, Michael Vick is the 1st QB to run for 1,000 yards and you mot about to campaign for him Simon

youre right im not

but i still think what Williams accomplished goes beyond him

on another HOF note........i think they do it wrong.....only allowing a max of 6 people in each year.......that just sucks

as for Tagliabue........sure he deserves 1st ballot consideration for how he grew the game into the nations #1 sport by far........but he just retired, i think he needs to wait just like everyone else

Keeping Tags out right now simply because he "should wait" is a dumb reason. He kicked the sport into the stratusphere and made it a multi-billion $$$ corporation that is a money making machine. The sport has reached unimaginable popularity and is practically untouchable.

I don't think Brady or Manning will have to wait at all.

Yeah, players have a minimum waiting period of, what is it, five years right?

Tags retired less than 12 months ago. What simon's saying is that he should face the same waiting period as the players, and I agree.

Re: 2007 Hall of Fame inductees

Oh...there is a required wait period? I thought that was just for the MLB Hall of Fame.

The only restriction is that a player must have last played at least five seasons before he can be considered. For example, a candidate for the 2007 class must have concluded his career not later than the 2001 season.

For a non-player, there is no mandatory retirement period, but a coach must be retired before he may be considered. Every nomination received will be processed and forwarded to the Board of Selectors.

well, apparently the rules are different for players and non-players........so Tagliabue could have been voted in........not sure why he wasnt
