Super Bowl Commercials

This may not have anything to do with the game itself but almost more hype is placed on the minute long spots.

The SF Gate Paper says a 30-second spot costs well over $2 million and talks about whether the commercial aspect of the game has overtaken you know...the football game.

And MSNBC has a Top 10 list for the best Super Bowl ads ever. I definitely think Terry Tate's Reebok stuff should've been ranked higher.

So, who here is guilty of looking forward more to the commercials?

On the whole, I like seeing what they'll come up with. I loved the Jordan vs. Bird ones, and the whole Bud Bowl thing back when they did those. Nowaways, though, it seems like most of them are going for shock value more than anything else.

By the way, any list that doesn't have the Mean Joe Coke commercial at #1 is a joke.

Good point Pundit. The only bad thing is trying to explain the rules of football to some woman who's watching merely to see Jessica Simpson's ex-husband on some inane commercial.

That commercial was made by Sprint promoting NFL on their phones.

Re: Super Bowl Commercials

Don't forget the annual Go Daddy commercials. Although the commercial itself never really informs you of what they do, it get's their name out there.

Re: Super Bowl Commercials

Yeah, GoDaddy will be in it near half-time. I would say that their biggest revenue and publicity comes today.

Re: Super Bowl Commercials

In fact, a large percentage of people watch the Super Bowl primarily for the commercials.

I liked the one early in the game with the two animals trying to use the real mouse as a computer mouse.

Yeah, that was good. I also like the Taco Bell one with the Lions, the Chad Johnson house party one with Janet Reno and Martha Stewart, the fighting office workers one was pretty good... I'm sure there are others but I'm experiencing cerebral flatulance at the moment.

I like the Taco Bell Lion one...and the office fighting would have been funny if I don't live it every day.
