NFL Drug Testing

The NFL and the players union have agreed on a new drug testing policy that, among other things, will test for EPO and will allow teams to recoup a portion of a player's signing bonus if he tests positive for a banned substance. Reactions to the new NFL drug testing policy?

I don't necessarily agree with the "role model" theory but ..... when you have a public face and are paid millions it seems totally unfair when they get off with a slap on the wrist and some poor kid from the other side of the tracks gets 2 years in jail for a miniscule amount of pot. The kid should pay a price and the very public professional should pay the same price.

Re: NFL Drug Testing

i definatly think the laws should be stricter i mean we want to watch football to see people who have developed their bodies to full fitness and can go on the compete with the best players in the world on the centre stage, we dont wanna see 5ft 2 guys with muscles the size of your head bursting through a defensive line like they are small children or a wide reciever running from end zone to end zone the entire game and not taking a breather all because they have been popping or drinking steroids. what kid of example is it setting to the next generation "do they best you can kids and you might be in the NFL one day...alternatively, try your best and if you dont succeed take some steroids and beat the crap out of your coaches if they bench you"

if we dont clamp down on steroid abuse then its just going to take the fun out of the game, its supposed to be guys who were once like us playing the game we love to the best of THEIR ability, not to some super human ability through the help of steriods, but then again its not like it helps when Ricky Williams is conviceted three times of steroid abuse and what happens to him, yeah he gets suspended for a year but just runs off to play Canadian football, until we start punishing the players that are doing the wrong things they will never learn

Re: NFL Drug Testing

I applaud any kind of stricter testing but I'm not going to do backflips until some test for HGH is developed and works. That's the stuff I fear is being used more widely and I believe it's more dangerous in the long run.

Good for them. I just hope we realize once stricter testing is in place it might dilute the talent pool. We might have been happier being ignorant. But people will always find a way to break the rules so you never know.

Quoted for the truth.

I would be willing to bet that 90% of the players that take steroids in the NFL take HGH.
