Opinions Please

How would you feel as a fan or a player if an opposing player was to dance on your logo after a great play (i.e. Terrell Owens) or after you win (i.e. the Patriots)?

Re: Opinions Please

I didn't get to watch the Chargers/Pats game last night, so I will have to see the highlights on ESPN to form an opinion on that.

The TO thing, I didn't have a problem with. I think a player should be able to celebrate if they make a great play. If the cowboys didn't want him to celebrate then don't let him score. They knew by reputation TO was a loudmouth and liked to things like that.

Football is a violent sport and I find it funny that they made the celebrating rule to protect the feelings of players getting shown up. I think they can handle it. It is also great for the fans. It makes the sport fun. I hated the Redskins, but I used to love to see the fun bunch after they scored. I used to love the Ickey shuffle even though it was a stupid dance. Gastineau jumping around dancing after a sack used to make me want to watch him play. It has taken a lot of fun out of the game with this rule.

Re: Opinions Please

Now I agree with some of that. The NFL has tried to make football into a panzy sport. You can't tackle the QB because he thought about throwing it before you sacked him, so therefore it's unnecessary roughness on the quarterback. I agree with the dancing issue. I was starting to get into football with Ickey Woods was doing his dance. I used to love watching it. I love to watch Steve Smith and Chad Johnson last year. It was like a competition as to who would do the best celebration.

Re: Opinions Please

Don't want them to dance on your logo? Then beat them. If it happens pre-game then take note to what Louisville did to Miami in college football when they did it this season. San Diego should have won that game. They deserved to get their logo danced on. Maybe unsportsman like but hell this is the NFL.

Re: Opinions Please

As a fan, I'd be pissed that the opposing team is dancing on the home team's logo. That's just unsportsman-like. I think the NFL should lighten up in other aspects such as TD celebrations and little things like that though.

Celebrating is fine. Don't do it on the home teams logo though. Show some class.

Re: Opinions Please

Did Merrimen ever dance on an opposing team's logo?

If a team openly celebrates (dances) on an opposing team's logo on their home field, then I take it as disrespect.

he has had 27 sacks so far.........he does his little dance when he has a sack

lets say half of those were on the road...........say 14 oppertunities

so, out of 14 sacks have any occured on an opponents logo where he then danced?

i havent seen all of them so i cant be sure.........but my guess would be yes

Re: Opinions Please

Nah nah nah lol

I'm talking about a visiting team knowingly searching for the logo (as the Pats did...they walked from the sidelines to centerfield if I recall).

Celebrating after a sack or big catch is COMPLETELY different.

Re: Opinions Please

i would have to say....(even admitting i am a Pats homer).....that for the most part what they did was spontaneuos

one or two of them may have decided ahead of time.......but i would say for the rest of them they got caught up in the moment........sort of a mob mentality thing

i dont think its fair to blame the entire team or even the entire group involved in the celebration for the premeditated plans of just a select few

I thought that the Pats were supposed to be a team of Class? Not the last three letters of the word clASS!

Re: Opinions Please

And I will say this. If I was at a UNC game, and a team beat us, and one of the players started dancing on the Center Court Logo, I would be one of the first ones on the court trying to get my butt whipped!
