There is no question if he played and stayed healthy for another 5 to 8 years that he'd own every record in the books. |

xdavid, I wonder what Barry Sanders would have been like with an offensive line. I remember him quite well. Barry Sanders off right tackle for one yard Barry Sanders off left tackle lost one yard Barry Sanders caught in the backfield lost one yard Barry Sanders breaks one for 70 yards- Touchdown!!! That's how his game went. BBB

Alright, Let's develop this a little more. How about most dominant at each position? So far at running back we have, 1. Jim Brown 2. Barry Sanders Linebacker as Lawrence Taylor. BBB

What about safety? Ronnie Lott or Rod Woodson? Man, how would you like to have both of them running around back there picking of passes and knockin' some heads. Two great players! BBB

Lefty, Rod Woodson and Ronnie Lott were chosen on the NFL all time team a few years ago. I take Lott over Woodson. He was the best pure safety that I have ever seen. Woodson was the most atheletic safety that I have ever seen. Willie Wood, Em Tunnell, and Yale Lary were some of the best in their era but I don't think they could play at the level of Lott or Woodson. (In my humble opinion) Remember Buddy Dial and Bobby Lane during that Yale Lary, Em Tuunell era. Bobby Lane would play with a beer belly(it was beer) and throw 50 yard bombs to Buddy Dial. BBB

Maybe I'm nitpicking here, but Woodson made the NFL's 75th Anniversary Team not as a safety, but as a corner alongside Mel Blount, Dick "Night Train" Lane and Mike Haynes. On that squad, the safeties were Ronnie Lott, Ken Houston of the Oilers and Redskins and Larry Wilson of the Cardinals. Check out this link: http://www.post-gazette.com/sports_h...02AllTime4.asp This is for the NFL Insider's Dream Team, as selected by the Pro Football Hall of Fame voters. Lott and Wilson were chosen as safeties. I quite honestly had forgotten about Wilson. He was a great one, too. But ultimately I agree with you. In my mind, Lott is most likely the greatest safety of all time. Last edited by Lefty Noob : 02-26-2006 at 02:31 PM.
