NFL commissioner Goodell visits LA, Anaheim

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The mayors of Los Angeles and Anaheim met with new NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Friday and both offered competing plans to lure a team back to southern California.

Los Angeles city leaders want to build a new stadium within the walls of the historic Memorial Coliseum, featuring 200 luxury boxes and 15,000 club seats at a cost of $800 million.

"He reaffirmed his commitment to bring the NFL back to Los Angeles, and I reaffirmed my desire to work with him to do that," Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said at a City Hall news conference.

"I told Mr. Goodell that I am 100 percent committed to the Coliseum as a venue for the NFL, and I reaffirmed our commitment that absolutely no taxpayer money will be spent on the necessary renovations," he said.

i think LA needs a team

but im torn if they need a new team or a team should move

i really feel for fans that lose their teams when they move away

There won't be any expansion, so a team has to move for southern LA to get a new team. Question is who? San Diego? Jacksonville?

You and I are on completely opposite sides on this issue, simon. How many chances should L.A. have. I hear all this stuff about it being one of the largest markets in the country and how the NFL needs a team there and blah blah blah blah blah. L.A. had two teams. They didn't support them. The teams had to move. End of story.

naw Lefty buddy, we're on the same side

thats another reason i would vote for expansion

LA doesnt deserve a team at all, so please dont take one from fans that support it

but i fear the NFL and the city of LA are very determined to put a team in there, so i would rather see expansion

it's the lesser of 2 evils

Heh, how about that, I guess we do agree after all.

Yep, if you have to put a team there (memo to NFL - DON'T!), let it be an expansion team.

I agree too. Los Angeles has made a history of kicking out professional football franchises and those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. The only problem is Jacksonville treats the Jaguars like gum on their shoes and that must have the corrupt commissioner and that moral-less mayor of LA licking their chops!
