Re: NFL Predictions Contest: Week Three

I am deeply sorry for the misconfusion earlier this week regarding the final Overtime Sudden-Death Question. I had found the question on a football trivia quiz, and I requested the permission to use it. I thought it would be a difficult question to answer, but then I found out that it had more than one answer. I would have made the hints more specific but I did not want to give away any clues.

After a brief discussion and consideration from my colleague, we have decided to award every member who participated in this week's game 5 points for trying to decipher the correct answer(s) to the difficult question.

Simple Simon, will post the updated scoreboard sometime this week. If you have any questions or concerns about our exclusive GoTeamsGo Football Predictions game, please contact MJHMarc or Simple Simon through the private-messaging system. Remember to be kind to us because we got ourselves into this game and we can easily get ourselves out.

9X + 3 = 7X

(9X-7X) +3 = (7X-7X)

2X+3 = 0

2X+ (3-3) = -3

2X = -3

X= -3/2

X= -1.5

LOL...UGGGH, GOTHAM CAN USE FINGERS AND TOES TO DO BIG BAD MATH PROBLEM...UGGGH...KNUCKLES HURT FROM DRAGGING ON GROUND...MUST GO PAINT CAVE NOW...

Math classes?...get real...Custodial Arts my good man...ocassional I found an answer scribbled on a piece of paper...

What I simple do not get, is how you and Simon can be part of the game if the quiz answers don't have anything to do with the games and you have predetermined answers...how does that work Marc my man?

BTW, as an added note...I think the question was actually created to test Logical Reasoning and Pattern Recognition, more so then Verbal skills...or English skills.

Logic:
Logical thinking is the ability to make deductions that lead rationally to a certain conclusion.

Pattern Recognition:
Patterns can be found in ideas, words, symbols and images and pattern recognition is a key determinant of your potential in logical, verbal, numerical and spatial abilities. Your pattern recognition skills are expressed verbally through your long term exposure to language and your mathematical and spatial abilities are based on your perception of numerical data and 3D objects

Though you can argue that within the testing for logic and pattern recognition you are testing for verbal skills as well...

Verbal:
It is said that to have a mastery of words is to have in one's possession the ability to produce order out of chaos and that command of vocabulary is a true measure of intelligence. Verbal intelligence measures your capacity to use language in order to express yourself, comprehend stories and understand other people. Verbal abilities include reading, writing and communicating with words. The verbal component of this test examines your vocabulary and your capacity to learn verbal material. It also measures your ability to employ verbal skills in reasoning and problem solving.

Having said all that, I would say then that the questions tests for (and probably in this order, though I could be wrong): Pattern Recognition, Logical Reasoning, Verbal Communications, and finally a person's skill with the English language...

well, youre wrong

actually, id say the 2 most important factors here are really literacy, and knowledge of the English language

if you cant read youre completely screwed.......in conjunction with that, if you dont know English, youre equally screwed

GDK, while your line-up of skills is impressive and helpful, without my 2 you have no more shot to get it right then a red-assed baboon

SS<--------not just a pretty face

See there SS...glad you are aboard to set the record straight man...geez, I am not even up to baboon standards...i mean how dumb of me to not to see that those two skills are not just pe-requist for taking a test, and therefore skills that are actually tested for on a standard exam...thanks buddy...think I can make it to baboon level by next week?...if I really study that is?...you guys crack me up...lol...
