The annual showdown is so rich with games of national championship significance and players who filled their shelves with Heisman Trophies and other major awards that the rivalry itself is saluted in the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend, Ind. It is the series in which Wide Right was introduced into the football vernacular. Twenty years ago, Bobby Bowden went with the wishes of his players to try a two-point conversion for the win but came up one point short when it failed. Such drama could happen again; it often does in this rivalry.
