The Florida State women's basketball team had a lot to celebrate Sunday afternoon at the Donald L. Tucker Center. Not only did FSU retire the jerseys of Seminole greats Tia Paschal and Wanda Burns-Jackson at halftime and honor head coach Sue Semrau throughout the game for her 10th anniversary at Florida State, but the Seminoles also beat Virginia for the third straight time in the series and with the 63-47 victory, improved to 16-5 overall and 5-1 in ACC play. UVA fell to 12-9 overall and 2-5 in the league.

Senior Alicia Gladden led all scorers with 21 points while freshman Jacinta Monroe recorded her third double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. While the Seminoles shot just 38 percent from the field, they were solid from the free throw line with a 78 percent showing.

Seminole girls seem to be winning a lot more than the FSU football team of late...Which is good, since thier coach is barely above .500 in her coaching career...
