Bowden resigns

JEFF Bowden, that is, Florida State's offensive coordinator. His resignation is effective come the end of the season, and comes just three days after the Seminoles were shut out for the first time in 233 games. Reactions? Is Bobby next?

Re: Bowden resigns

Bowden probably should announce that this will be his last year, but he has earned the right to do what he wants in that regard. Florida State was nothing before he went there, and he put the football program on the map. However, if he doesn't want to tarnish his legacy, he should call it a day, before things get too ugly.

Re: Bowden resigns

Every FSU fan knows that Jeff was the real problem. The offence has never been the same since he took over. He lacks the ability to utilize the offense to its potential. Just look at the quarterback situation. They should have never switched around like that. When you build an offence you stick with the guys you have in place. We all know that they can perform at that level. It also seemed like when he found a play that worked once they kept calling it even though it never really worked again.

Glad to hear that he is gone. Now we should go after a real offensive mind......

Welcome to GoTeamsGo, Graymachine, and thanks for joining us!

As far as X's and O's go, this definitely is for the best. I just wonder what this does to the relationship between FSU and Bowden. Yes, it was a resignation, but Jeff was clearly being pressured to step down. Does this impact Bobby's future plans?

Cool Re: Bowden resigns

What kind of father let's his son get fired ( and that's what it was) - and stays at the school? I'm glad that guy isn't my father. But let that be a lesson. Family and Business don't mix.

I believe this will be that catalist that finally makes Bobby Bowden "retire" at the end of the season.

It would only take a coulp hundred Grand to buy out Schiano's contract at Rutgers. I would trade my children to see him come into the ACC at FSU or Miami (bye-bye Coker), with Butch Davis now at UNC, this could return the ACC to its glory days.

Re: Bowden resigns

I'd hate to see Schiano bail on Rutgers at this point. He's the best thing ever to happen to that program, and he's got to be the most popular person in Jersey right now. Yeah, he'd get more money to jump to an ACC school, which makes it likely. But I'd rather see him finish the job with the Scarlet Knights and keep their program and the Big East conference in the national spotlight.

Re: Bowden resigns

FWIW, Schiano did an interview on a local sports radio show down here last night under the condition that he would only talk about HIS program and HIS team... nothing else.

I usually find that sort of thing as a tell-tale sign he's covering himself in preparation for a move. Speculation? Yes.

He's going to get huge offers. As a Canes fan, I would LOVE to see him come to Miami. Unfortunately, that would entail a buyout on Coker's contract, which from what I've been told ranges from $2.5-$3 mill. Not sure if the "U" wants to pull the trigger, and be able to offer Schiano something competitive at the same time.

If FSU gets him, we're up the creek in the ACC. That's for sure.

We should've brought Butch back when we had the chance.

Re: Bowden resigns

Considering the Cane's season, it may well be worth a couple million to have him removed.

The thought of Schiano in the ACC makes me as giddy as a school girl.

Coker and the Sr. Bowden, both need to leave the ACC before they sully their reputations any further, as well as the reputation of the conference.
