| Marlins Owner and Girardi Clash The Palm Beach Post reported Florida Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria made a decision to fire Joe Girardi last week but was talked out of it. According to the article, the beef started when Loria (from his box seat) was shouting at Umpires about balls/strikes. When Girardi told/motioned to him to stop, Loria took exception. There are conflicting sides about whether or not Girardi used a swear word when talking to his owner. Wow, if Loria had fired Girardi, that would've been as bad a decision as he could've made. Good thing he didn't. |

| Re: Marlins Owner and Girardi Clash If Giradi cursed me out I would've given him the boot. That is no way to speak to your boss and I hope he learns from this lesson. He could have been charged for subordination! |

| Re: Marlins Owner and Girardi Clash If the incident did occur Girardi was in the right. He realizes that once his owner starts in on the umpires, his team is going to get no calls for quite awhile. Loria should have enough class to know this and if he is upset with the umps, then go through the proper channels. Now, imagine if this is Steinbrenner and Torre we were talking about. Something that was barely covered would be front page news and George would be being blasted from every corner of baseball.

| Re: Marlins Owner and Girardi Clash He probably has behind the closed doors in his office. Knowing the personality of Steinbrenner he most-likely paid a nice amount of "hush money" to keep the personal embarrasment away from the public's eyes. But of course that is just a thought that doesn't supposably mean that it is the truth. |
