| Joe Girardi: Manager of the Year? Is Joe Girardi of the Florida Marlins the Major League Baseball Manager of the Year? Fox's Tim McCarver seems to think so. You can see what he and broadcast partner Joe Buck have to say about Girardi and the Marins payroll over at FishStripes :: Joe Getting Praise. Do you agree with what the have to say? Is Girardi the best MLB manager of 2006 this far? |

| Re: Joe Girardi: Manager of the Year? Way too early to be giving that one out. There is no pressure on Girardi at all, and he is also in baseball's worst division. I would like to see the Dodgers make the playoffs and see Grady Little honored, after the screwing he took in Boston because of Pedro.

| Re: Joe Girardi: Manager of the Year? The award is separate for the AL and NL. Right now, Leyland is a runaway choice in the AL. If the Tigers stumble really badly, Torre could be the man, although the Devil Rays manager, Joe Maddon, has done a very good job, despite their record. Francona in Boston never seems to be mentioned, but he is doing a great job in the toughtest city in baseball to manage. In the NL, Girardi is in much the same boat as Maddon; he will be a popular pick if nobody else stands out. If Houston, Cincy, or Milwaukee can somehow unseat the Cardinals in the Central, then that manager will be a good choice. Both West divisions, AL and NL, are so bad that the winning manager will not receive alot of consideration. |
