Marlins pitching coach resigns

Florida Marlins pitching coach Rick Kranitz has decided to leave the team.

According to the Associated Press, "The organization sought to retain Rick Kranitz for next season, but he wanted to explore other options, general manager Larry Beinfest said Monday. Kranitz won't be with the team for its final six games... Bullpen coach Steve Foster will be pitching coach for the final week. The rest of manager Fredi Gonzalez's staff will return next season, Beinfest said." Kranitz had actually been offered a raise to return for next season, but turned it down. Smart move on his part?

Re: Marlins pitching coach resigns

I wonder if he's got a job waiting for him elsewhere. I don't see why any team would offer him another pitching coach job right away though.

Yeah, same here. It's not like the Marlins staff was anything to write home about this year. Maybe something's up with Girardi and a possible opening somewhere, and he's going to go be on that staff? It's all just speculation, but it does make you wonder.
