Woods' walkoff beats O's

Jason Woods' 2-run bomb in the ninth lifted the Marlins over the Orioles 8-6 Thursday, notching up the South Floridian Ball-club's first win in spring training.

Wes Obermueller, usually a reliever, started the game and gave up two runs on five hits in two innings.

Aaron Boone played first base for the first time in his career, according to MLB.com, and added his first RBI as a Marlin in the victory.

The Marlins face the O's again Friday, with the D-Train scheduled to pitch his first game of spring training.

Ah, I was wondering where Boone wound up... wish the Tribe still had him.

Re: Woods' walkoff beats O's

I'm starting to think he could be the next Jeff Conine in south Florida.

The AP ran a good story about him the other day.

Though he's slated as a non-starter behind Jacobs (first base) and Cabrera (third), I think he's going to see a lot of playing time. Hopefully, he'll be able to keep these kids in check, too.
