It's a ridiculous claim to make. He's not even the best SEC quarterback of this generation, really.

Hey guys, I am not sure what era Urban Meyer is talking about? This is typical of head coaches though. They always talk their starting QB up like he is the next messiah.

If I remember correctly...Urban Meyer said his QB while at Utah, Alex Smith, was the greatest QB he had ever seen. He is hyping his QB and usually when a coach does this too much, the QB usually has a bad year...LOL

Tebow is really good, however, not the best I have seen at least in this decade anyways. Remember, he is playing with all-stars surrounding him. With maybe the exception of USC, Gators have the best all-america high school recruits joining every year. He still cannot consistently throw accurately downfield which will hurt his draft status a little if he doesn't improve in that area. Great topic!

IMHO Tebow is a very good college QB - nothing more nothing less. His rushing TD stats were skewed because Fla. didn't have a decent RB. Plus Meyer - being the jerk he is - ran up the score at every opportunity.

From everything I've read he is an outstanding young man - maybe some of it will rub off on his coach.

We will see how SuperBow does this year. He had a few very good games last year and a few where he was exposed. Meyers has a penchant for running up the score even when the game is in hand (pitiful IMHO) which padded Superbow's numbers. His remarkable number of rushing TD's is also misleading as they had no one to tote the ball. His passing yardage and completion rate are misleading as well since the offense throws a ton of short passes and most of the yards are gained after the catch.
