| Special teams key to UF's success The Gators haven't forgotten what was supposed to be the beginning of the end of last year's championship run. Florida wide receiver Jarred Fayson (11) blocks a Jacob Skinner punt during the first half of the 2006 SEC Championship. With Florida winning 17-11 against Auburn near the end of the third quarter, punter Eric Wilbur bobbled the snap from center. Seconds later, Auburn's Tre Smith was scooping up a blocked punt and somersaulting into the end zone for a swift, momentum-stealing touchdown. The Gators' new punter, true freshman Chas Henry, was in Jordan-Hare Stadium as a Florida fan when the play happened. “It's something that you look back on and wish (Wilbur) had another chance at it,” Henry said. Gator coach Urban Meyer always stresses to his players how big plays on special teams carry knockout power. That's why Wilbur and former Gator punter Nick Fleming returned over the summer to prevent Henry from sharing the same experience. The three have worked primarily on eliminating Henry's false step.
