| Gators hit the road The progress report shows that Florida's young football team is right on schedule three weeks into the season. Things didn't go well for quarterback Rex Grossman and the Gators the last time they played at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Miss. The Gators were upset 17-14 by the Rebels on Oct. 5, 2002. Handle first-game jitters and the awe of running out of the Swamp tunnel for the first time. Check. Beat a dangerous opponent in a possible letdown game in week two. Check. Raise the overall level of play in the first game against an SEC opponent. Check. Now comes the next item on the Gators' progression checklist: Cope with life on the road in the SEC for the first time. This trip to Ole Miss could be a little bit dicey, UF coach Urban Meyer said Monday. "We have 40 guys going for the first time," Meyer said. "The red flags are up." There is much to be concerned about taking a young team on the road for the first time. One item that really has Meyer's attention is the bus ride from Tupelo, Miss., to Oxford on Saturday morning. For good reason. Gators hit the road - News - GatorSports.com
