| Gators testing home-game streak Anyone who has seen the movie "Dead Poet's Society" knows that carpe diem is Latin for seize the day. TRACY WILCOX/The Gainesville Sun The Gators are a perfect 15-0 at home under Urban Meyer and have a streak of 17 straight wins at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium dating back to 2004. The Florida Gators have their own interpretation, and it goes something like this: seize the opponent by the throat and don't let go until the game is done and won. Carpe diem. It is written on a sign that the players see just before they enter the tunnel for games at Florida Field. Their version of carpe diem has become the Gators' Swamp mantra under Urban Meyer. "We've got a saying, carpe diem — destroy anything that gets in the way," senior free safety Kyle Jackson said. "That's kind of how we treat that field. Anyone who is in an opposite colored jersey when we step on that field, we're trying to destroy them." Under Meyer, the Gators have carpe diemed their way to a perfect Swamp record of 15-0. The special winning aura that dissipated during the Ron Zook era has returned. Getting The Swamp back to where it used to be in the championship 1990s was Meyer's Gators testing home-game streak - News - GatorSports.com
