When Urban Meyer was getting ready for his first Tennessee week as the Florida football coach, he leaned on his players to get a sense for the rivalry.


It's too bad Tim Tebow was still in high school.
The current Florida quarterback could have given Meyer an earful on Florida-Tennessee.

He's lived it, seen it, felt it, tasted it.

He has definitely heard it enough to know that Rocky Top "gets old."
Tebow is a newbie compared to some of us codgers when it comes to Florida football, but he has lived through almost all of the intensity of the series. Because it wasn't until the two teams started playing each other annually in 1990 that the venom started to spill into UF-UT.

"Ever since they started getting really competitive in the early 1990s that's probably been our biggest rival," Tebow said.

He's seen the video so many times when Lawrence Wright hit Joey Kent so hard in 1995 the Vol wide receiver bit off a piece of his tongue.
"You felt bad for Joey Kent," Tebow said. "Not really."
