Donovan staying at Florida

ESPNews is reporting that Florida coach Billy Donovan will return to the Gators next season. No Kentucky, no Miami Heat.

Really? I'd think the rest of the SEC would LOVE for this guy to go to the NBA (and get the heck out of their conference!).

I think it will bring more quality players into the SEC to be on teams that play the defending champions as confrence games

It's not like the SEC is a team. Billy Donovan won't help 'Bama one bit...in fact, they will likely lose more games because Donovan is still coaching Florida.

Bama was in the running early in the season until Ronald Steele was injured. The SEC is definitely not the ACC but we are making progress. There are alot of good players that will sign with a school to be a starter instead of riding the bench for a power team.

Re: Donovan staying at Florida

According to Mark Schlabach of ESPN.com, "Florida basketball coach Billy Donovan, who led the Gators to back-to-back national championships this past season and then turned down a lucrative offer to become Kentucky's coach, is close to signing a seven-year contract extension with the Gators that will pay him an average of more than $3.5 million per season, sources close to the situation said Thursday... The new contract, which Donovan hasn't yet signed, will pay the coach around $3 million the first year. The contract then escalates to more than $3.75 in guaranteed income by the end of the contract in 2013-14, a person familiar with the negotiations said."
