Emmitt Smith College Football Hall of Fame

The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced on Monday that the NFL Network will televise the 49th Annual College Football Hall of Fame Ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m., marking the first time the ceremony will be broadcast on television. Former Gator running back Emmitt Smith is among this year's inductees. UF senior quarterback Chris Leak (Charlotte, N.C.) will be in attendance as one of 17 members of the 2006 National Scholar-Athlete Class and is a finalist for the 2006 Draddy Trophy, presented to the nation's top football scholar-athlete.

Hey, good for Emmitt. He was a better pro back than a college one, but that's saying something, because he was a darn good runner in college, too. Glad to see him get inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Re: Former Gator Great Emmitt Smith Enshrined Into College Football Hall of Fame

Well all know how great Emmitt was as an NFL back, but sometimes his collegiate career gets a little overlooked as a result. Howeverm Smith broke 58 school records while at Florida, gaining 3,928 yards rushing and scoring 36 touchdowns in only three seasons as a Gator. He was a 1989 All-American and won SEC Player of the Year honors that season as well. Truly a great all-around.
