Is Florida #2?

The answer is yes, at least in the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Polls. We'll have to wait till later to find out if they moved up to the second spot in the BCS Rankings, but as the AP is reporting, "While the Gators had a slim lead of three points over Michigan in the AP poll, they were 26 points ahead of the Wolverines in the USA Today poll -- a margin that could help get Florida into the national title game."

I still think it's criminal to jump the one-time #4 team up to the second spot just to avoid a rematch. What do you guys say?

Re: Is Florida #2?

I have no problem with Florida jumping Michigan. I just don't think a 2nd place team in a conference should vie for the National Title.

Well, it's a done deal. Florida is #2 in the BCS and will play for the title. I guess I'm in the minority that doesn't like this, but now that it's a done deal, I guess I'll just sit back and see the best team in the Big Ten DESTROY the best team in the SEC.

Absolutely not!!!!! What happened to Michigan is criminal. Maybe they should have scheduled a non-conference game with some weak sister at the end of the season and blown them out for STYLE points to satisfy the Florida coach that Michigan is the No. 2 team in the country if not No. 1.

The biggest difference between Floridia and Michigan is that Florida won their conference title, Michigan did not. I'm sure that winning the SEC Conference Tilte was the deciding factor for most of the voters.

Are you forgetting that Michigan has already been beaten
by The Ohio State University? Who in the hell would want
to see them get beat again by The Ohio State University?

Old stuff, yawn! Florida, the opponent for The Ohio State
University, should do the SEC proud.

I don't have a problem with them jumping over Michigan either. Why should OSU have to beat Michigan twice to win the title, but Michigan would only have to win once. They had their chance and failed.

I don't understand how you come to this conclution. Peolple are so wrapped up with how the BCS is not suspose to work. Its not about who jumps who or where you are when you jump someone. They have the same record only UF played a much more harder schedule. 1st of all I don't think Michigan should have been #3 in the 1st place after losing to Ohio State. And I certainly don't think USC was ever deserving. I think it should have went like this:

1. Ohio State
2. Florida
3. Loiseville
4. Michigan
5. LSU
6. Wisconsin
7.Boise State
8.West Virginia
9.Rutgers
10.Auburn

Re: Is Florida #2?

Florida got into the National Championship because:

1. Urban Meyer cried, while Lloyd Carr kept his mouth shut because he would only be stating what everyone else knew, the BCS is flawed. Urban next time man up and don't act like a 2 year old.

2. Most people didn't want to see a rematch.

3. People some how think in order to make it to the national championship you must win your division. Well lets say 6 SEC teams are ranked 1-6 and Ohio State is ranked 7th, does that mean Ohio State is the second best team in the Nation? The SEC needs to shut up.

Perhaps Lloyd Carr kept his mouth shut because he had already
blown his chance. You are quite right-few except for Michigan
fans wanted a rematch. If 6 SEC teams are ranked 1-6 then it
doesn't matter a hoot in hell if The Ohio State University is 7th
or 700th!

And that could never happen. But I agree they already had their chance. And I WOULD LOVE FOR EVERYONE WHO THINGS MIGHIGAN DESERVED IT MORE THAN UF TO GIVE ME ONE GOOD REASON WHY. NOT AN OPINION BUT A STAT WHERE MIGHIGAN WAS BETTER. THEY WERE BOTH GOOD TEAMS BUT UF WAS BETTER BECAUSE OF THEIR SCHEDULE. I REALLY THINK IF MICHIGANS SCHEDULE WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER THAN UF'S WE WOULD BE TALKING ABOUT A REMATCH FOR THE NATIONAL TITLE GAME AND I WOULD COMPLETELY AGREE.

If OSU and Michigan played in the SEC and were in "different divisions" they would have played each other for the SEC Championship as the only two undefeated teams. Then which conference would have been clamoring for a rematch. Neither coach would have had to sell their team to the BCS and put down the other contender.

I don't think even if it was in the sec they would have had a rematch for the title. I don't think their should ever be a rematch from the season for the title. I also beleive that you should have to win your conferance to be able to even play for the title. They have already set the ground for a +1 system by adding another bcs bowl. If we had a +1 system this year then Ohio State would be playing LSU and Florida would be playing Michigan. Then the winner of those would play for the Title. How sweet would that be. 4 Teams from the 2 best conferances in the nation going head to head to decide it. I mean you could have 2 SEC or Big 10 teams playing for the national championship. If that happend I still think their would be controversity so I don't really know what direction it needs to go, but I do know that is a start.

The +1 system would be a huge improvement. I would like to see a playoff format instituted, but the logistics of that would almost take the time of another season. You can't play a football game every other day like basketball, and these kids need to be in the classroom sometime. I would love to see LSU/OSU and Michigan/Florida, and the winners play for the national title. That would remove all doubt about this years champ.

I think Urban Meyer did the right thing lobbying for his team. he cares about his players and wanted them to get a shot at something special. I would have done the same thing.
