I'm rooting for the Tigers. Sick of all the hype around Florida. Does anyone have any updates about Tebow? Will he be playing this weekend?

Tebow returns to practice in pads; status against No. 4 LSU unclear

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida quarterback Tim Tebow was cleared to practice Tuesday and took about half of the first-team snaps, but it still remains unclear whether the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner will be cleared to play against No. 4 LSU on Saturday in Baton Rouge, La.

Tebow, who suffered a concussion suffered against Kentucky on Sept. 26, was cleared to practice without contact by a team of physicians that included Pittsburgh-based consultant Dr. Mickey Collins, one of the nation's leading experts on the treatment of concussions. Gators coach Urban Meyer said Tebow looked "a little rusty," but he said Tebow has improved tremendously since the injury. During the third quarter of Florida's win at Kentucky, Tebow was hit hard by Wildcats defensive end Taylor Wyndham, and as he fell, Tebow's head slammed into the knee of Florida offensive lineman Marcus Gilbert.

Now, Meyer and his staff must wait for doctors to clear Tebow to play in a game. "He has not been cleared to play in the game Saturday night," Meyer said. "Absolutely not. That has not happened yet."

If doctors clear Tebow, then Meyer and his staff must decide whether Tebow -- who has practiced little since the injury -- gives the Gators the best chance to beat the Tigers. Redshirt sophomore John Brantley has taken the bulk of the first-team snaps since Tebow's injury. "There are two issues," Meyer said. "The safety of Tim Tebow, and, obviously, the football team."

Last week, Tebow was forbidden from reading or watching television. Meyer said doctors wanted Tebow to avoid focusing on anything for too long. By the weekend, that ban had been lifted. Meyer reported Monday that Tebow was performing well in tests. Meyer said Tebow lifted weights Monday.

Re: No. 1 Florida at No. 4 LSU

Hey, I saw LSU play against Washington Huskies the whole game to start the season. I felt the only true weakness I saw with the Tigers is their QB. He is average at best and to beat the Gators with Tebow, LSU Tigers are going to have to get some major breaks. Without Tebow, the Tigers will still need breaks, just not as many. Gators should win here but if the Tigers can cause some turnovers and not make any themselves, they have a shot especially at home!

Their QB has gotten better, he had to cause the run game is not there 33 yards on 31 attempts against Miss State it was better against Georgia but their defense is down this year. Defense is a problem too you saw that by watching them play Washington. Washington ran for 157 yards and passed for 321 yards LSU gives up about a avg. of 120 rushing yards and 220 passing yards a game but their biggest problem is the Head Coach he continues to make stupid mistakes on the sideline these mistakes have almost caught him ( Georgia ). Being lucky is good but luck only last for so long.

Re: No. 1 Florida at No. 4 LSU

Just for a moment, try to forget the 24-hour will-he-or-won't-he-play drama surrounding Tim Tebow. We'll get back to the Florida quarterback soon enough. With or without Tebow, top-ranked Florida (4-0, 2-0 SEC) will face its toughest test this season as it heads to Death Valley on Saturday night to battle No. 4 LSU (5-0, 3-0 SEC).

The Tigers have owned Saturday nights at home, winning their last 32 games, including 21 straight under coach Les Miles. Since 1960, LSU is 211-59-4 at night in Tiger Stadium, with its last loss coming on Nov. 16, 2002 against Alabama. Home turf is a daunting advantage for the Tigers, and Miles, who's played college ball before 100,000-plus fans in The Big House, says LSU's atmosphere is unmatched.
