2006 Fantasy Football: Receivers

The experts at Yahoo have Steve Smith at a solo number 1. I think that's a risk, I love Smith as much as the next guy but he is a small receiver who might get hurt. Call me crazy but I would take a shot at TO...TO is locked in a 3 way battle for seconf with Holt, and Chad Johnson...which leaves Marvin Harrison 5th...I think Harrison is underrated at 5th.

Chris Chamber at 8th ahead of Rany Moss?...I like Chambers and this could be his year. Had him last year for that 15 catch +200 yard game...but the QB situation is not settle at Miami yet. We will see. Boldin ahead of teamate Fitzgerld?...now that makes no sense.

Smith will benefit from Keyshawn; Fitzgerald had a better year than Boldin in 2005 so it should reverse itself this season, with top DBs focusing more on the former and allowing the latter to get open a little more. Harrison's always a good, safe bet. Chambers and Moss are a toss up, neither having a real stable QB situation at the moment.

You'd take Boldin over Fitzgerld?...really now?...Fitz has the higher ceiling, and how much could his production fall off even a 20% reduction (which I don't expect) puts him at 80 catches 1120 yards...I got to go with Larry as the target of choice in the desert.

Re: 2006 Fantasy Football: Receivers

Fitzgerald is the better receiver, talent wise, but that's part of why I think Boldin's numbers will be better this year. Larry will be the one facing the double-teams while Boldin gets open against single coverage. He'll benefit like Reggie Wayne did last year or the year before following Harrison's big season.

See, I jsut don't think that will happen with Edge as a safety value to be dumped off to in case of doulbe coverage...Larry might draw the top flight corner and occassional attention from the safeties but I doubt they are going to double cover him a lot.

Cool Re: 2006 Fantasy Football: Receivers

Got to go with Gotham on this one. I would take Fitzgerald over Boldin. As far as the #1 receiver goes, Steve Smith isn't crazy. But I probably would take Owens instead.

Re: 2006 Fantasy Football: Receivers

One guy that should be available for cheap that I think will have a monster season is Javon Walker. He is undoubtedly Denver's best playmaker, and if Jake Plummer can replicate the season he had in 2005, Walker could really wreap the benefits.
