Valentine Gift ideas for a sports fan, need some help with ideas

my boyfriend (44y/o nyc firefighter) is a HUGE sports fan. Loves all sports and is a Giants, Mets, Knicks fan, college football, college basketball. He plays in a BB league. Sports are the first love of his love, I am the second! Want to get him a Valentines Gift he would love... Tickets to a game, or something he would really want. Any thoughts, suggestions?

Basketball would be in season at that time. Seems like your best bet but then again I like basketball.

Well, the obvious choice would be Mets or Knicks tickets. The Knicks would be in season, the Mets wouldn't be far off. Or you could take him to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY - shouldn't be all that long of a trip, I wouldn't think. Any of those sound good to you?

Knicks tickets? Does she want to keep her boyfriend, or what?

Re: Valentine Gift ideas for a sports fan, need some help with ideas

First of all, please extend to your boyfriend a sincere "thank you" on my behalf and I'm sure the behalf of many here on this message board. You see, many have forgotten but I for one have not forgotten, the noble and most heroic acts that your boyfriend and his "brothers" and "sisters" performed on 9/11! The gifts those men and women gave on that day cannot be measured in dollars and cents and for that I am forever grateful!

Now, to the gift suggestion... he's my age and for me, unless it's something like a new car, yacht or something totally mind-blowing like that, there hasn't been a gift I probably haven't gotten in my lifetime especially with pro teams! This Christmas, my wife gave me a bunch of NFL gear but the one I really liked was the fleece jacket she got with the team's logo on it. I'm not into "extravagant" so the simplicity of that jacket really sold me and she knows that about me. It's important you know things about him like does he like extravagant and "loud" team apparel or more subdued? I would think that a leather jacket for a team either in the NFL, NBA or MLB should work. It's not going to be cheap but those leather jackets should last a lifetime! I've always preferred gifts that last because they are there as reminders. Giving game tickets are fine but (based on my experience) after a while, those tend to fade into memory much faster than something like a nice jacket or a watch or something you can see, touch and hold! That's just me though...

Good luck!

Oh, yeah, hadn't thought of that. Well... Mets it is, I guess.
