Re: Fantasy Baseball Playoffs

Shawn Green was incredible in the Mets' double-header. Did you see him on the cover of Newsday this morning? The "Green Monster" Strikes Back!

It just doesn't look like your week, ThePundit. How about next week and we call it even?

Re: Fantasy Baseball Playoffs

Keep your hopes up, ThePundit. You still have some time left and you have done well the whole season!

What happens if you lose? Do you win back any kind of the 'moolah' that you paid to play? I only join free leagues, since that is the way I am. I would join a fantasy league but I already own some so there is no reason to pay someone else.

Re: Fantasy Baseball Playoffs

Make sure you have your all starting pitchers starting! This is not a time for those careless mistakes that you made during the regular season.

You never mentioned what the consequences would be if you lose. Sometimes it is better to lose so that you face weaker teams in the Playoffs. I know it sounds wrong, but it has happened to me before!

Re: Fantasy Baseball Playoffs

I just checked on the 2 teams I have in the playoffs. I got bumped out in both leagues by a tiebreaker. I was 5-5, and 9-9. I lost because my ERA was higher in both. Now I have to hope that I can gain 10 points in my roto league to retake first place. It will be hard with Hafner out for the year.

Re: Fantasy Baseball Playoffs

Whoo-hoo! The Ohio Corked Bats advance to the Semis!

I beat my opponent 6-4, thanks largely to Johan Santana's 2 wins, 0.00 ERA, 0.49 WHIP and 23 strikeouts on the week. I won all four of those pitching categories easily and also got five runs out of Ray Durham and 5 RBI out of Brian Giles. Now onto the next round, and the top seed!

Cool Re: Fantasy Baseball Playoffs

I advanced to the semis 10-6. Dave Bush and Bronson Arroyo clinched it for me yesterday with stellar pitching performances. I wish Bush could have saved his CG for this upcoming week. I had to bench Mike Sweeney this week. He's day to day and so I picked up Chris Duffy off waivers.

Cool Re: Fantasy Baseball Playoffs

Huge complete game for Chris Carpenter last night. Carpenter started of slow this year but has really come on in the last 2 months...My first pick overall is finally earning his money.

Re: Fantasy Baseball Playoffs

First overall pick?

I would have picked so many other players before Carpenter.

Who was picked first overall in the whole league and how many teams are there?

Cool Re: Fantasy Baseball Playoffs

Carpenter was our first pick. It was like the 12th pick overall. Our strategy was to get a 2nd baseman and a pitcher with our first 2 picks. We would have taken Soriano first but he was gone so we went for Carpenter and then got Chase Utley on the way back.

I'm up 8-6 but everything's tight and it's only been 2 days with rainouts. I started Alex Rios and he hasn't played in 3 games.

Re: Fantasy Baseball Playoffs

He has been on my fantasy team's bench all season long. I thought of putting him in my line-up but my regular outfielders have been performing well without his help.

Cool Re: Fantasy Baseball Playoffs

I'm up 9-5 but the categories are still close. Kyle Lohse getting hammered last night was just beautiful...

Rios came in for defense last night---so will Gibbons PLEASE put him back in the damned lineup.

And will Willie Randolph stop giving Carlos Del Gado rests?

Re: Fantasy Baseball Playoffs

He gets more rests than Randy Johnson who is a good decade older than him!

You have to respect the superstars but not obey their every demand. In that case, I would like to sign a multi-million dollar contract and play 130 games.
