Cool Teahen and Sweeney

I picked up Mark Teahen of KC about 3 weeks ago. Check to see if he's fallen through the cracks in your league. He's put up some serious numbers the last month...Also, I picked up Mike Sweeney 2 weeks ago. He's now on a re-hab assignment. If you have someone on your roster who you can drop who is no great loss - a scrub - you might want to pick Sweeney up. When he's healthy, he puts up serious numbers. Again, only if you can afford to part w/somebody on your roster.

Teahen hit a homer and a double last night.

Re: Teahen and Sweeney

Pundit I like Sweeney as much as the next guy...but he is on his fifth year worth of injuries...And a "buldging disc in his upper back" does not sounds risky still...Plus he is hitting .176.

True Gotham and that's why I recommended you pick him up only if you have a useless player you can drop. He was hitting .176 but was hurting. So in my eyes it's a small risk high reward move. if he sucks, you drop him and pick someone else up. The other night, In a Double A Re-hab game, Sweeney was 3 for 4 with a dinger. He can be back on the major league team as early as Tuesday.

Don't forget that those impressive numbers (belonging to Sweeney) are from AA Rehab. Once he hits the major leagues, he may not produce those kinds of statistics. We will just have to see how this plays out. I would keep my eye on him, if I were you.

Cool Re: Teahen and Sweeney

He's due back Tuesday. Casey Blake was injured again so I slotted Sweeney in for the hell of it. I'll take my chances with him over my crummy bench of Sean green, kenny Lofton and Shea Hillenbrand

Re: Teahen and Sweeney

That is not a crummy bench at all, ThePundit. Those players are a whole lot better than my bench of the athletes you never heard of.

Shawn Green is a solid slugger while batting an average around .300 with a decent slugging percentage.

Kenny Lofton is still a reliable source of speed with 16 stolen bases. I know he isn't young anymore, but his batting average of .301 is incredible. I would slide him into your lead-off spot.
