Official Mid-Point, How Are Your Teams Doing?

Although all the teams have played at least 81 games, now it's officially recognized as the mid-point of the long MLB season. So, how are your fantasy teams doing? Here are mine...(I have four of them)...

1) 5th Place out of 14. 18 Games behind first, but only 3 games separate the 3rd, 4th and 5th place teams. MVPs are David Wright, Miguel Cabrera, Scott Kazmir, Mo Rivera, Curt Schilling, Mussina, Saito and Schmidt. Pleasant surprises include Corey Patterson and Eric Byrnes. Major dissapointment being Jimmy Rollins.

2) 3rd place out of 12 teams. 17.5 games out of first place and 11 games out of 2nd. I'm ahead of the fourth place team by 8.5 games. MVPs include Albert Pujols, Chase Utley, Marcus Thames, Tom Glavine, Papelbon, Mo Rivera, Joe Nathan, Chris Capuano, and CC Sabathia. Mark Derosa has been a godsend for me, especially with his 4-position eligbility. Eric Chavez has ridden the bench for the majority of the year through injuries and that awful .240 average. Mike Lowell has been a help as well for 2B and 3B.

3) 4th place out of 10 teams. 9 games out of first. Only 3.5 games separate the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams. I have just a .5 lead over the 5th place team. MVPs include A-Rod, Torii Hunter, Kevin Youkilis, Corey Patterson, Francisco Liriano, JJ Putz, Joe Borowski, Jorge Julio, Glavine and Saito. My pitching staff has been stacked although a bit unstable in the scheme of things. Jake Peavy only has 4 wins, Dan Haren has been pretty stable with a low WHIP and high strikeout number. Mark Mulder has been injured for over a month, and has a high ERA and WHIP. I've kept Prior and haven't played him much and hope I won't have to cut him shortly. Todd Helton has been a pleasant surprise since picking him up about 3-weeks ago. Pat Burrell's average is awful although his HR total is tied with A-Rods for my team's best and his RBI is second only to ARod. I'm not worried about SBs with BRandon Phillips, Patterson, Posednik, Furcal and Figgins on my squad. I'd like my guys to produce some more power though.

4) 7th place out of 12 teams. 23 games out of first, 3.5 games out of 4th place. MVPs have been David Wright, Miguel Cabrera, Joe Crede, Dan Uggla, Scott KAzmir, Carlos Zambrano, Curt Schilling, Otsuka and Saito. Billy Wagner leads my team in saves but his ERA is worst amongst my relievers as is his 1.11 WHIP. Ian Kinsler has come on as of late to surprise me and has taken over Jimmy Rollins' starting spot.

Re: Official Mid-Point, How Are Your Teams Doing?

Hmm, good thread idea. I'm just running one team this summer due to time constraints, and we're currently in 6th place out of 12 with a 70-61-9 record (15 games out of first). Andruw Jones has been my biggest contributor on offense, along with Vernon Wells, Carlos Delgado and Hank Blalock. Pitchingwise, Johan Santana and Freddy Garcia are my best starters, while Tom Gordon and Todd Jones are the bullpen brigade. Hopefully, some of my other guys - Furcal, Giles, etc. - start contributing a little more.

Cool Re: Official Mid-Point, How Are Your Teams Doing?

I'm in 3rd out of 18 teams. I've been decimated by injuries the last few weeks...Casey Blake, Jay Gibbons, Alex Rios

rest of my team
1) DelGado 2) Utley 3) Jamey Caroll ( Cut K. Greene) 4) Hillenbrand 5) Dye 6)Lofton,7) Sean Greene,Victor martinez.....

Pitchers: carpenter, Arroyo, Mr. Rogers, Nate Robertson, maddux, Casey Jansen, Jamey Wright, BK Kim, Bucholz,

I need Jay Gibbons back and Rios back in the worst way. Hopefully I can hold onto 3rd.

Re: Official Mid-Point, How Are Your Teams Doing?

That is an excellent strategy to succeed in fantasy baseball, mervinout.

I always read the fantasy columnists who advise readers which players to buy low and sell high.

At this moment in time (2nd out of 12 in my fantasy baseball league), I am mostly concerned about the future of Alfonso Soriano. If he switches back to second-base, I would go after him to help my infield. Otherwise, I think I can survive on my stable outfield.

Re: Official Mid-Point, How Are Your Teams Doing?

Chase Utley has evolved into one of baseball's top secondbaseman in only a few years of experience.

Here is the statistics line from his past five games:8 H (2 2Bs), 3 HRs, and 8 RBIs.

He is a potential MVP if he ends up with a projected 31 homeruns and a splendid 105 RBIs.

Re: Official Mid-Point, How Are Your Teams Doing?

1st place of course...

97-56-6 (.625) 7-2 for the week...

Offense: Pujols, A-Rod, Ichiro, Piazza, Ramirez, Patterson (32 SB)

Pitching: Liriano, Kazmir, Verlander, Harang, Dontrell Wills, Putz, Wagner...

Solid all around...trying to trade for Soriano right now...
