Re: DelGado I know what you mean, ThePundit. He is still a solid first-baseman who has the potential of becoming an MVP. But with his latest performances, I doubt he will win it this year. He has a .091 batting average in his last 11AB. I am not making early predictions but I think he will make a full recovery from this slump and bounce back to his normal powerful performances. The Mets could use some more homeruns and RBIs from their top slugger.

Re: DelGado I have J. Willingham, too. I picked him up from the free-agency list because I felt he is doing well this year. I also have J. Mauer so I switch off between the two. J. Willingham is a lovely surprise this year and he is helping my team come out of the bottom of the standings.

Re: DelGado I've got Johimja or however you spell it platooning with Willingham. In fact, for a while at the beginning of the season, I had both in the lineup (Willingham qualifies as an OF in my league too) since they were outperforming most of the rest of my lineup. Someone on here recommended these two to me, and boy am I ever grateful I took their advice!

Re: DelGado Yes, that Japanese catcher has made a nice adjustment in the MLB. Not as good as Ichiro, but he is definitely a decent player for an organization. As it is, he is one of the best catchers out there.

Re: DelGado Johjima has definitely surprised me as he's done very well with the bat. I never see the Mariners so I don't know how he is defensively though. I too have him on some of my teams (usually splitting time with Paul Lo Duca). As for Delgado, I wouldn't worry too much. Lately he's been hitting a lot into that weird shift opposing teams do to him where the entire infield moves to the left (with the 2B in short left field). He's still the danger in the middle of the line-up though.

Re: DelGado Paul Lo Duca is having a spectacular year for the New York Mets. I would definitely keep him as a first, or second string catcher. I know this isn't football but there are back-up on the depth chart. You make a good point, EmpireWF. Delgado is still danger in the middle (or top) of the line-up. No matter how bad he may slump this season (if he does), he will still be remembered for his power and aggression. Pitchers fear when he gets up to the plate. And when the pitchers get sloppy around him, Delgado will crush their pitches over the outfield fence. Then his slump will be gone. So far, Carlos Delgado, has gone for a batting average of .062 in his last 16AB. Just wait until he gets out of his "slump" and starts popping his homeruns, again.
