Ortiz for Thome Another owner in my fantasy league offered me an interesting deal. I might as well entertain it since I have a few days to accept/decline the deal. He put Jim Thome on the table for my own, David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox. David Ortiz isn't doing as well as Thome but I believe has I higher batting average. Thome is off to a great start so I am wondering, is it worth giving up "Big Pappi"?

Re: Ortiz for Thome Stick with Ortiz, Marc. Thome's production's sure to tail off, and as Pundit points out, he is most definitely injury prone. Papi, on the other hand, may not be producing quite as well right now, but he is the safer bet for the long term.

Re: Ortiz for Thome By long term, I mean for the rest of the season. That's why I say stick with Papi. The way Thome's hitting, he will most likely wind up screwing up his back again, while Ortiz is a more consistant, less injury prone player.

If Thome stays healthy, he will do well. If you're itchy to do the deal, then have the other team throw in another good player. If you need saves, get a closer, if you need steals, get a Lugo type....Ortiz is more valuable so you have the leverage.
