Cool Fantasy Pick Ups...

Okay, just picked up Jack Wilson at the shortstop position, I plan on platooning him when ever Clint Barmes does not play at Colorado. I also picked up Devil Ray strikeout ace Scott Kazmir...he will hurt my Whip, but I decided I can control K's better than Whip...as I can rotate enough pitchers during the week to get K's...

Anyone made a good pick up of late?...Lets hear about it!

Re: Fantasy Pick Ups...

If he's available, you might want to pickup Scott Baker. He's the pitcher that beat out Francisco Liriano for the last spot in Minnesota's rotation. He pitched well last year and shut down the Yankees last week. He should be a low era, good whip with modest K's and wins. He shouldn't hurt you in any category and should get better as the year goes on. He's only 24.

Re: Fantasy Pick Ups...

Well, its a gamble, but I'm currently trying to claim Eric Gagne and Brian Giles off the waiver wire. My pen's pretty weak so a healthy Gagne (if he gets there) could be a big boost to my pitching.

Re: Fantasy Pick Ups...

If the pick-up goes through, Giles will replace Brad Wilkerson on my roster.

Re: Fantasy Pick Ups...

Hey, got another one for you Gotham. Just found Detroit closer Todd Jones sitting in the free agent pool. I needed another closer, and fortunately, he's just about to come off the DL. Man, how did I luck into this falling right in my lap?

I would take him on a "catch and release" program...he can fill the gap, until you get an upgrade...or you can package him with Santana for Schilling and a top closer...Tigers jsut don't win enough to make Jones the long term option.

He'll work until Gagne's healthy. IF Gagne GETS healthy, that is...

Cool Re: Fantasy Pick Ups...

I picked up Casey Blake a day before the season started. He's been on fire although he didn't play yesterday with a hammy tweak. He's often overlooked on fantasy teams.

Re: Fantasy Pick Ups...

I was going to pick up Mike Piazza off the free-agents list...

But then I thought that I had better ways to spend my money!

I had him last year and cut him...he gets you homers, but I thought he was a bit inconsistant for my taste.

Re: Fantasy Pick Ups...

If you need a starting pitcher, check out Jamie Wright on SF. Just like Sean chacon, his bad numbers were for Colorado. I picked him up this past week after 2 good outings. He left the game last night with a 6-1 lead and the SF bullpen blew his win.

Re: Fantasy Pick Ups...

Same with the Oakland Athletics. Zito pitched great in seven somewhat innings and then the bullpen came along and gave up the game.

Chacon?...His ERA is through the roof...8.03?...Are you sure we are talking about the same guy...
