c- Victor Martinez - doing well 1b -Carlos Delgado - doing well 2b- Chase Utley - finally woke up ss- Khalid Green - doing well 3b -Shea Hillenbrand - stinking it up of-A. Rios - on bench first week but activated in week 2 - good so far of - C. Everett - Hasn't done much yet of-Jay Gibbons - doing pretty well util - Casey Blake (on bench last week but activated this week) - doing well Bench: Jermaine Dye - Active last week but not sure about health so we benched him this week ( Next week - Hillenbrand will probably take a seat, Casey Blake will go to 3rd and Dye will move to Utility Sean Green ( played the 1st week but found the pine this week JUAN encarnarcion - neither has done much Pitchers: We start 3 SP, 2 RP, and 2 SP or RP = 7 total Chris Carpenter - Not what we expected but its only 2 starts. Greg Maddux - Better than expected Bronson Arroyo - So far so good - he even has more homers than Willy Mo Tim Wakefield - one good, one bad game J. Dusccherer - Oakland - gives great ratio and K/9 (which is a category) J. Towers - has sucked so far. K. Loe - Texas - we can use him as a relief pitcher and had 2 starts this week so we put him in. Bench: Guardado - we only have one closer and we benched him since our opponent has 3, we just gave up the cateogory. Kenny Rogers - we haven't had him in our lineup yet. NateRobertson _ just picked him up off waivers and waived Craig Counsell. Gives us another option on weeks when he may get 2 starts and a guy like Towers may get 1. After week 1, out of a 20 team league, we were - 9-5-2 for 4th place. This week so far we're up 12-3 but it's early yet.

Re: Fantasy MLB Baseball Sleepers Actually, Pundit I was talking about out sleeper picks from the thread. In terms of my fantasy team, I had a pretty lousy first week (3-6-1) but I'm 9-1 so far this week. Big weeks for Johjima, Vernon Wells, Hank Blalock, Willingham, Andruw Jones, Delgado, Iguchi and finally some performance out of my pen of Tom Gordon and Mike Gonzalez. Sure hope this week's a sign of things to come!

Re: Fantasy MLB Baseball Sleepers Great Post Gotham. I think Fielder and Morneau have the most upside for 2006. They both have a great minor league track record and have no one pushing them for time. Carlos Quentin is a great name to mention, but unless someone gets hurt he'll probably be blocked. That being said, if he gets a chance, especially in that ballpark, I'd make sure I get him. He's arguable a better prospect than Conor Jackson. I would say Upton and Delmon Young could have the biggest upside of all these players if they were in the Majors right now, but the rays don't seem all that tempted to call them up. Upton has 5 errors in 9 minor league games this season and isn't going anywhere until he gets better. Young is hitting .400 with 7 steals, but the logjam in the Tampa outfield hasn't made it easy for him to get playing. I would definitely stash those two away in keeper leagues.

Welcome aboard. I knew the Tampa guys were a stretch for this year...but why not take the road least traveled? Anyone else you have your eye on as this season gets started? Please share. |

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Rookie Justin Verlander put on quite a show for family and friends in his debut at Camden Yards. His performance also made an impression on the Baltimore Orioles. Verlander took a five-hitter into the seventh inning, Brandon Inge and Curtis Granderson hit successive homers in a four-run seventh, and the Detroit Tigers ended a three-game skid with a 6-3 victory Wednesday night. Justin Verlander continues to look good...he is now 4-3 with a 3.77 ERA...I picked this guy off waivers at the start of the season...

Re: Fantasy MLB Baseball Sleepers I'd just like to make a solid point: Justin Morneau did not sleep in 2007. If you haven't noticed, he was the AL MVP after we all chose him as a sleeper. Why don't you start a new thread containing a mock draft/fantasy baseball sleepers for 2007.
