advice on starting up a league

Hey everyone,
I was just put in charge of my office fantasy league for the coming MLB season. I'm excited and happy to do it, but also slightly clueless. Any recs for a good site for organizing these things, and a good way to get stats 24/7? I'm often away from my computer so if there's a TV channel or phone number I can call to get 'em, that would make my life easier.

Thanks for any and all advice ya got.

Re: advice on starting up a league

Is this a friendly league (no prize money involved) or with money at stake?

The best sites I know of include Yahoo!, ESPN and Sportsline.

I'd have to say I prefer MLB.com and Yahoo to ESPN (if you're looking for stats or recent news like injury reports). If you aren't on the net, you can always go to ESPN or (if you have cable) ESPN News which is even better. Now if you're not near a TV, you could always subscribe to Baseball Digest, SI, or another popular baseball magazine. If you're watching players from a local team, your local newspaper should also carry their stats each day in the sports section.

Just sign up for Yahoo. They have both pay leagues and fun free leagues which you could get the office to pool money to give to the winner

Re: advice on starting up a league

I like sportsline.com but if you're not around a computer or a TV, you can always get scores and stats texted to your phone via 4info. Text the team or player to 44636 and in seconds they'll text the info right back at you.

As far as putting a league together, I agree that it's probably easiest just to go through Yahoo and collect money around your office.

CBS Sportsline.com has player position ratings with points.
