Cool Holds?

In my fantasy league, we're thinking of adding HOLDS as a category. This will make middle relievers valuable and spice up drafting strategy. Some in our league are for it, some against. What is everyone's opinion?

I wouldn't like it to tell you the truth. With holds, it's a flukey (is that a word?) stat. Anyone can get one if they're put in late in the game. You wouldn't need to search high and low for good middle and late relievers as it would be just pick a reliever and hope his team has the lead when he goes in and leaves.

Plus, those relievers would be taking up valuable roster space.

I think HOLDS are a bit hokey for a stat, myself. A sold middle reliever can contribute by getting the occasional win or s, plus Ks and helping out at WHIP and ERA. I my league, I always target a solid middle reliever or two anyway. It really worked out well for me last year when I had Todd Jones.

It seems like there can be a stat for everything, and at some point you have to consider keeper things simple instead of trying to make every player valuable in some sort of stat.

Agreed - Holds were a stat in the baseball fantasy league I played in last year, and a month into the season, we wanted to get rid of it. It's a waste of time, and much too valuable of a roster spot for just one category. Plus, we all know how flukey holds are - sometimes pitchers who perform poorly can still walk away from the game with a hold.
