NL Third Baseman--Fantasy National League third basemen are for the most part---awesome! The best is Miguel Cabrera of the Florida Marlins. Cabrera is someone who can hit .320, hit 35 homers and knock in 120, but the big issue with Cabrera, is the team was gutted over the last few years, and now he is basically the leader on this team with a bunch of rookies. Another third baseman who could have a breakout year, is David Wright of the New York Mets. Wright, has the potential to hit .310, and hit 30 homers and knock in 110. Some players to consider drafting in middle are Aramis Ramirez, Scott Rolen and Morgan Ensberg. These three are guys who can hit .280-.290, hit about 30 homers and knock in 100. Three guys to watch, in terms of them being young and only to get better, are Ryan Zimmerman of the Washington Nationals, Garrett Atkins of the Colorado Rockies and Edwin Encarnacion of the Cincinnati Reds.

Just on a hunch I would take Ramirez first because as Lefty points out, Cabrera has nobody around him any more. He may get more walks than Bonds. And Wright should bat 3rd this year between Beltran and Del Gado and the Cliff Floyd behind him - so I would pick him next. Then Ensberg...I personally am going to stay away from Rolen - too injury prone for me.

Thing with Ramirez, and I've had first hand experience with this in my league championship game, is that he usually gets dinged up quite a bit. You'll end up losing him for a couple weeks a year and possible toward the end of the season if the Cubs aren't in it. Sure Cabrera may not have a strong supporting cast, but talent-wise, I wouldn't pass up on him for those reasons. At least he stays healthy
