Fantasy--Second Baseman N.L. As for the second baseman in the National League, their are several I would tell fantasy owners to invest in. Washington Nationals' Alfonso Soriano might decline a bit in his stats, mainly due to lack of firepower on the Nationals team, but this year I expect Soriano to hit about .280, while hitting 35 homers and knocking in 100. The player that I love this year, is Chase Utley of the Philadelphia Phillies. Utley, is a star on the rise, and this year I believe he will hit 30 homers, knock in about 110 and hit about .290. As for the rest of the second baseman, even though he is nearing the end of his career, Jeff Kent of the Dodgers still can hit 25 homers and knock in 100. So, he seems to be okay to draft. Braves' Marcus Giles is reliable, as well. Giles, will bat over .300, and knock in about 75. The one player to watch this year is Rickie Weeks of the Milwaukee Brewers. Weeks, is so-so at the plate, but he can steal and has decent pop, and I see him hitting 25 homers.

Good to hear that you mentioned Weeks in the above list of second basemen. Outside of players like Soriano, 2B always seem to be a relatively weak position, and although Weeks is no Soriano, he could still easily be a 20/20 player, which for a 2B is pretty good. You also have to like Utley in that band box he plays in. It's not Coors field, but . . .

Re: Fantasy--Second Baseman N.L. It's interesting that you bring up Hairston...I think he is quite a talent...remember, he was only shipped out of Baltimore to make room for Brian Roberts. And we know how that turned out for Baltimore. Ironically, though, he is listed on the Cubs roster as an outfielder and Todd Walker is expected to have the 2nd base job this year. With the addition of Pierre and Jones and the high expectations for Matt Murton, I am not sure Hairston will see a lot of playing time this year.

Re: Fantasy--Second Baseman N.L. I didn't get to 2B until later in my draft so I chose Anderson Hernandez who should be starting for the Mets (after Kaz hurt himself). I'm not expecting much but hopefully he keeps his average up and can run.
