Peca('s wife) wants out of Edmonton too

The funny thing is- she's from buffalo, and she hates Edmonton!
So pronger, Mccabe, peca - the women rule. Apparently, pronger's Missourin wife (I'm not sure of the proper way to describe a person from missouri) wants to get the hell out of edmonton. You know it's cold there, but there are malls, and good skiing is a short plane trip away. No taxes. Maybe too hick for them, but lots of rich people live there.
An article today in the paper talks about how wives have become a fundamental part of a hockey player's deal. I'm sick of hearing about these cry babies. Count your frigging blessings, man. And hands off kaberle!

All I can think of is, Edmonton must be a really crummy place to live for so many hockey players and their wives to want to get the heck out of there this badly. Wow.

Two's so many? All I can think is, it gets cold.
So does Buffalo.

Oh, I'm sorry... I looked at that list and mentally threw McCabe in there too. My mistake!

what's really insulting about McCabe's wife is she doesn't want to be in Toronto.

Cool Re: Peca('s wife) wants out of Edmonton too

I think the Pecas liked it on LI. He was treated like a god here. It's funny. A big part of the reason why Laviollette got fired was he and Peca and their wives became so close that Laviollette lost the other players in the dressing room. You can't chummy up to the players. You have to maintain your distance. Same thing happened to Butch Goring. I was told by someone who would know (who actually told me Laviollette was on very thin ice before the public knew it so the source is very reliable) that nobody respected Goring because he was a skirt chaser on the road. ( he's married).....

If Peca's so chummy with Laviollette, is there a shot he winds up in Carolina?

Wow, I guess that's the lastest rage...team's will have to stop courting the player and court the wife...

Maybe contracts will state that to let the bonus money kick in you got to marry a local girl....

Re: Peca('s wife) wants out of Edmonton too

Apparently they do court the family, not just the player. Teams want the wife and children to fit in and be happy, and it goes as far as helping find doctors, schools, etc, ensuring that a pregnant wife is set up with what she needs.
Unfortunately, i guess they can't do anything about the climate.

He might. Before the Islanders hired Neil Smith and Ted Nolan, Wang was considering bringing Peca back to the Islanders but now I would be shocked if it that would happen.

Re: Peca('s wife) wants out of Edmonton too

I know most professionals who are considered independent contractors (and I'll assume professional ball players are considered that by the federal gov't) prefer to live in Florida. The reason being there's no state income tax...I don't know how many other states in the US are similar.

In Canada, what are the taxes like?

Yep...no state incoem tax here...we have "the tourist" pay for it all...of course salaries are a bit lower...its a wash really...but Shaq, Tiger Woods, and all sorts of people have homes in Orlando

Alberta has no sales tax and is the richest province. It is the Texas of Canada.
Ontario, where the Leafs and Ottawa are, is the most urban province. Quebec is the loveliest, but it is French so not knowing the language might make a Montreal canadien not enjoy it so much.
Vancouver -in BC- has the coast and is laid back. in general. But far.

Alberta has no sales tax huh?...Remind me to stop there to stock up on my hockey cards some day...I remember going to a dollar store in Toronto a few years ago, and getting packs of hockey cards for 2/3 of a US dollar...which was really, really cool.

Re: Peca('s wife) wants out of Edmonton too

Dear Mrs. Peca,
I understand you want out of Edmonton. Thats cool, everyone should live where they want but one thing though...dont return to New York. Its the most corrupt, morally bankrupt, cesspool that earth ever produced.
Your Friend,
Trashed
