On with the semi finals as Oilers win

2-0.
That Horcoff guy is coming as a memorable player. And some unknown guy named Peca scored too.
So turns out in answer to the San Jose booing, the crowd cheered SO loud during the star spangled banner, they drowned out the singer. Which may bother some, but was not meant at all disrespectfully. Good on them.
Finally, the semis. Edmonton vs Ducks, Canes vs. Sabres.
Paper mentions, if oilers win the cup, it will be their first in 16 years - if any of the others win, it will be their first EVER.
Looking for Oilers vs. Sabres. that would be some mean matchup.

Gary Bettman must be dying with the thought of an Oilers - Sabres matchup. Except for those in Buffalo, I don't think one person in the US would watch it. It would just be a ratings nightmare. Carolina wouldn't fare much better. At least Mickey Mouse would tune in to see Anaheim play.

Re: On with the semi finals as Oilers win

Well I don't think the Oilers could have asked for a better opponent in the Ducks. I don't see how the Oilers could lose. Also, being the only Canadian team in the race for the Cup, they really have some motivation. I guess the Oilers would make for a better championship. Here is an article on the Oiler's win http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/H/HKN_SHARKS_OILERS?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DE FAULT&CTIME=2006-05-18-00-08-59

I hate that it is about that (because yeah in canada wouldn't we love an all Canadian final) but it's reality.
I gotta hope there are just die hard hockey fans out there everywhere, because I would watch a final with say, san Jose and Carolina.

Yeah, you're right. I think the perception is, the farther north you go the more interested you are in hockey in general. So if Carolina's gone, no one in Caroilina gives a damn about any other team.
I don't know, is that right?

Well, they probably due until College basektball comes around... ...or football which ever comes first...but Buffalo ghas bad winters and a hockey past...so its hard to compete...the trees are probably green all winter in Carolina, and who's gonna watch hockey when you can be running around outside?...

hey we can run around outside up here now too. Pools are even open. Shorts are washed and folded in drawers, days last from 6 am till 9 pm. Ice cream trucks are out.

But you hit it with the hockey past thing. You have to have years of it before it becomes something you can't do without, i think.
