Duke's new offensive coordinator

Duke will have a new offensive coordinator trying to get things turned around for them this year, and his name is Peter Vaas. Vaas was the QB coach under both Lou Holtz and Charlie Weis at Notre Dame, and now he'll try to take some of his expertise to help turn around the 112th-ranked Blue Devils offense.

According to the CSTV U-Wire, "Over the last two seasons, Duke has thrown for 17 touchdowns. Under Vaas, Notre Dame threw 69. Granted, he did that with quite a bit more talent -- the name Brady Quinn comes to mind -- but he's not exactly arriving to an empty cupboard in Wallace Wade." So how much of a difference will Vaas make?

Re: Duke's new offensive coordinator

OK, does it really matter. If you have ever been to a Duke football game, you will realize real quick that they don't care! I went to the UNC/Duke football game last year at Duke and there was more fanfare for the Duke basketball practice than there was for the actual football game. UNC's fans outnumbered Duke's I would say atleast 8 to 1 with a majority of the Duke fans being families of the seniors since it was senior day and the other part being the big boosters.
It just seems that football is of no avail to them. I know that UNC has not been good in the last few years, but we are trying to make an effort and Chapel Hill is actually a pretty crowded place for UNC football games.
